The trail runs through a varied landscape – from the forests and glistening lakes of Sm\u00e5land, towards Sk\u00e5ne with \u00d6sterlen and Simrishamn. Sydostleden is Swedens second national bike trail and runs mostly on car-free roads.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n

The mild climate and terrain makes Southern Sweden ultimate for cycling and nature experiences. Sydostleden<\/a> is 274 km long and takes you through a constantly changing landscape, from V\u00e4xj\u00f6 in Sm\u00e5land, followed by the archipelago in Blekinge, towards the coastal town of Simrishamn in Sk\u00e5ne. *(Website in Swedish with Google translate button)*<\/p>\n

Sydostleden passes through protected biosphere parks, a national park, small fishing villages and cosy towns rich in cultural life and history. There are many hotels and B&B’s along the trail, and plenty of opportunities to extinguish both thirst and hunger at a restaurant or cafe. Go for a swim in a lake framed by greenery, have a picnic in the shade of a tree on a sunny beach, or enjoy the wind against your face as you pedal onwards.<\/p>\n

You can choose between cycling the whole trail, cycling it piecewise, or make a detour onto another local bike trail such as \u00c5snen Runt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n Sweden’s second national cycle trail <\/h3>\n

In 2016, Sydostleden became Sweden’s second national cycle trail. This means that the trail is of good standard, that it is safe, and that there is a good and wide range of experiences and service along the route. The signage is also of national standard and along the whole route you will find red-and-white signs marked with “2” – no matter from what direction or section you start cycling.<\/p>\n
