Despite not having visited \u00d6land many times before, he now took a lively interest in managing Solliden. Despite not having visited \u00d6land many times before, he now took a lively interest in managing Solliden. He employed a castle steward and ensured that the park had a long-term maintenance plan. Taking the Mainau Castle at Lake Constance as a model, Gustaf V decided to open the park to the public. Over time, he grew fond of \u00d6land and its inhabitants. He got involved in the Borgholm tennis club, went hunting, and also held summer concerts on \u00d6land.<\/p>\n<p>Gustaf V bequeathed Solliden to Crown Prince Carl Gustaf, Swedens current king. The Crown Prince\u2019s mother, Princess Sibylla, was given the use of the villa and came to \u00d6land every summer with the Crown Prince and his sisters. King Carl Gustaf and his family have both embraced Solliden as their private summer paradise and developed the public part of the castle park.
