Borgholm Castle has stood on its cliff overlooking the Kalmar Strait for 900 years. Over the centuries it has taken on many forms, including fortress, Renaissance castle and fortified stronghold. In the early 19th century the castle was destroyed by a great fire, and since then it has been one of Sweden\u2019s most famous cultural heritage buildings and one of the best\u2011preserved ruins.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n

\n Events at Borgholm Castle <\/h3>\n
\n

The castle\u2019s courtyard has been used for various gatherings throughout the 1900s, and since the 1970s larger concerts have been held here. Artists such as Bob Dylan, ABBA and Roxette have made concert history in the courtyard \u2014 one of the country\u2019s most iconic concert venues, attracting tens of thousands of visitors during the summer.<\/p>\n

The lowest level of the castle is adapted for accessibility to make it easier to get around, including the rooms with the castle\u2019s main exhibitions. Dogs are also welcome at the castle as long as your four\u2011legged friend is properly leashed, and there is a water stop outside for thirsty pets.<\/p>\n
