The island of \u00d6land, just off the eastern coast of Sm\u00e5land, leaves no one untouched, no matter the season. Here, you can stroll along soft sandy beaches with waves lapping at your toes, walk across the alvar plains with skylarks singing overhead and the scent of thyme in the air, or feel the famous \u00d6land winds whipping around the corner on a crisp winter\u2019s day. Enjoy a meal at sunset, experience Borgholms slott from centuries past, cycle toward the horizon, or take a refreshing swim. Getting to \u00d6land from the mainland is easy. A bridge connects the city of Kalmar with \u00d6land. There is also a car ferry from Oskarshamn to Byxelkrok in northern \u00d6land, and a bicycle ferry from Kalmar to F\u00e4rjestaden.<\/p>\n
