Prostatallen

In the 15th century, a small pine tree began to grow in the landscape between Västergötland and Småland. It grew to a significant size, and today, it stands by Highway 40, making it a perfect stop for stretching your legs. A beloved child has many names, and this 600-year-old pine tree is known by various names, such as Ullebotallen, Sagotallen, or Prostatallen. It is three fathoms wide (4.4 meters) and has a height of 27 meters. This majestic pine tree has stood here during the reigns of 22 monarchs and is one of Sweden’s oldest pine trees. To get here: From Jönköping, drive on Highway 40 towards Borås. After passing Highway 185 towards Mullsjö, continue for approximately 2 kilometers past the community of Bottnaryd. Turn left at Klerefors where there is a road sign. After 100 meters, you will find a parking lot, and here you can see the impressive pine tree!”
