Källenäs
Källenäs Nature Reserve provides the guests with one of the few pine heath natural forests in the region. There are pines over 200 years old here, in this primeval-like ancient pine forest. Källenäs is also full of wildlife, making it an excellent destination for those who want to enjoy Sweden’s beautiful forests and nature to offer.
About 25 kilometers southwest of Jönköping, close to Angerdshestra, lies the Källenäs, one of the region’s only pine heath natural forests. It was already reserved in 1937 and later made a nature reserve 60 years afterwards. Here you will be able to observe pristine nature and a wide variety of wildlife.
The nature reserve comprises a highly ancient, primeval-like stand of pine trees on sandy soil. The environment is otherwise impoverished with species elsewhere, but the old pines at Källenäs support a dense foliage of hanging lichens.
