A nature reserve with very old coniferous forest.
Bottnaryd’s old forest, as the name suggests, is a very old coniferous forest, with 400-year-old pines. The nature reserve is a site with conifer forest, marshes, and diverse animal and plant life.
The forest contains dead and downed trees, which not only testify to past times but also play an important function in plant life. The area is not just for people with a keen interest in vegetation; the area also has a good wildlife, and the wetland part is a place where elk and deer like to walk. The Södra Vätterleden walking trail goes through the nature reserve, between Huskvarna and Mullsjö. If you are walking, don’t forget that this is a nature reserve, so treat nature with an additional level of care.
