The children’s castle

The beautiful Kalmar Castle is located right by the sea and is a true fairytale castle, perfect for ghost stories, knightly adventures, or a treasure hunt. Throughout the summer, children are invited to exciting games and thrilling adventures throughout the castle. The fun begins as soon as they cross the suspension bridge and through the large gate into the castle courtyard.

Among other things, young visitors can challenge the Black Knight and be knighted or crowned a princess in the castle hall. Once you’ve donned your coat of arms, you must be prepared to defend the castle at any moment. After all, this is the 16th century, and enemies can throw down the gauntlet at you at any time. Of course, the knights also have to practice mock combat—thus, jousting tournaments take place daily.

Not only enemy knights, but also dangerous dragons must be fought. Will you manage to find the right path through the labyrinth of secret passages? Once you have mastered the challenges, you will be knighted in a ceremonial ceremony at the end – naturally, in magnificent robes.

But it’s not all dangerous in the castle. The most beautiful costumes await you in the wardrobe. Why not try on and see which one you like best? Knight’s armor, a princess dress, or one of the other authentic historical costumes? In the castle parlor, there’s crafting going on, and the castle maid will show you how to fold a fairy hat. You can also decorate your sword or paint your princess’s staff. In the Vasa workshop, all sorts of useful and beautiful things are being crafted and made.

Children who wish to challenge the Black Knight to a duel and participate in the knighting ceremony must be at least 7 years old. Younger children are welcome to participate in the other challenges.
