Hostels
Staying in a hostel is affordable and cozy. They are often housed in buildings of cultural and historical interest and in beautiful settings, close to swimming and nature. In other cases, they are close to the city and an alternative to hotels. We recommend a few gems among all of Småland’s fine hostels.
Långasjö Hostel
The hostel is set in the old church stables, a 60m long red-painted building, which is beautifully situated in the middle of the small community of Långasjö. The nature is beautiful and Lake Långasjön is right next door. The hostel is open all year round and has a small café. It is also one of the places you stay when traveling on the Emigrant Trail.
Solviken Hostel
Solviken Hostel is located on a headland in Lake Sommen. The scenic location offers a peaceful environment within walking distance of adventurous activities. You have the option of using the guest kitchen or being served simpler meals.
Korrö
Korrö is originally a crafts village with roots in the 15th century and is located in the middle of the roaring Ronnebyån. Today it is really bustling with life with STF Hostel, hotel, restaurant, café and trading post. The hostel is housed in a red-painted wing. Here you can also rent bicycles and canoes.
Hasselö Hostel
Hasselö is an idyllic island in the Tjust archipelago outside Västervik that you can easily reach by archipelago ferry. Enjoy island life and Hasselö’s fantastic archipelago environment with activities, restaurant, café & country store. At Hasselö hostel you live comfortably with access to a well-equipped kitchen and a large garden with barbecue facilities as well as areas for playing.
Evedal Hostel
Växjö Hostel Evedal is located just north of Växjö. Evedal is a historic place that invites you to relax as well as being close to the water. The hostel’s veranda is only 50 meters from the beach, right next to a restaurant and a campsite with various facilities.
Svänö and Lövö Hostel
Imagine staying in the middle of one of Sweden’s beautiful national parks. That’s exactly what you can do if you visit Store Mosse National Park, perfect if you want to stay longer in the park. Both Lövö Hostel and Svänö Hostel are located inside the national park, and the hiking trails pass right outside the gate.
The hostels are organized in different ways. Many are affiliated with STF – Swedish Tourist Association, which has provided travelers with affordable accommodation for 130 years. Others are organized in SVIF – Swedish Hostel Association. There are also many completely independent, private hostels and group accommodations. The ones who know best are the local tourist offices – check in or visit the websites for more information.
