Isaberg Tower

saberg Tower is an old landmark with great symbolic value for Isaberg and Hestra. It stands 20 meters tall and is located 309 meters above sea level, on the summit of Isaberg. The tower is visible from both directions along the Nissastigen trail. In the early 1900s, the entire Isaberg hill was covered with forest, and in 1920 the Isaberg Tower was built by commission of the Tourist Association. The purpose was to create a viewpoint high enough to see above the treetops. The timber came from spruces that grew on the mountain. The tower was constructed lying flat on the ground and was raised using horse power and sturdy hinges. For the adventurous, there are several ways to reach the tower. You can follow the Giant Staircase/Giant Trail, which winds dramatically up the mountain with its 500 steps and a total elevation gain of 150 meters. Alternatively, you can hike up the gentler Family Slope from the large gravel parking lot at the ski resort. For those who prefer a more relaxed approach, there is also the option to take the lift up when it is operating.
