One of Sweden's most famous Ice Age deposits.
See the special scenery at Rosenlunds Bankar, a landmark visible from a distance and a characteristic landscape feature. Here, Lake Vättern’s southern lake shore falls steeply into the water. The area is a nature reserve and includes a 35-meter-high and 2-kilometer-long slope of erosion. Rosenlunds Bankar is one of the most famous Ice Age deposits in Sweden, and bank erosion still goes on, the crest creeping 20-30 meters in 100 years. Due to uplift of land being greater in northern than in southern Sweden, water level of Vättern gently slopes southward, the level rising by some 1.7 millimeters each year. The outdoor space and the Rosenlund promenade provide a special experience to walk through, appreciate the view, and soak in the atmosphere of the location. Those who desire a longer walk can take the 5.8 km walk trail, Rosenlundspromenaden. The majority of the walk has a view of Lake Vättern. The route is easy to walk along, with the surface being either gravel or asphalt
