Ostkakans Day ❤
Good heavens, there’s going to be a lot of ostkaka eaten in Småland today! Here are three tips on places where you can enjoy this festive fika treat:

Save this post for when you’re in Småland and feel like enjoying something local.

ℹ️ Ostkaka (literally “cheese cake”) is a traditional Swedish dessert and dish, first recorded in 1538 but likely originating in the Middle Ages. It’s made from curdled milk baked in the oven, using milk, wheat flour, and rennet as the main ingredients. Unlike American-style cheesecake, ostkaka has a mild, custard-like texture with a slightly grainy consistency from the curds. It is typically served warm or at room temperature, accompanied by jam and whipped cream. The region of Småland in southern Sweden is particularly famous for this delicacy, and November 14 is celebrated as Ostkakans dag (“Ostkaka Day”).

November🍂☂️
Get out your rubber boots, enjoy a special Swedish “Cheesecake Day,” and start the Christmas season early with festive food, Christmas markets, and the first Sunday of Advent — the traditional beginning of Christmas celebrations in Sweden.

In November, the weather in Småland and on Öland gets colder, with daytime temperatures around 2–7 °C and nights often below zero. Rain and wind are common. The bright autumn colors slowly fade during the month, and by the end of November, the forests and fields look more grey and brown as winter comes closer.
