From 1884 and 100 years later, the building functioned as a school, Eriksbergs Folkskola, but in 1985 the house was reopened and became the museum you can visit today. The museum offers a number of permanent exhibitions but also shows a number of temporary exhibitions each year.
Fur Museum
Tranås as a fur town lasted for approximately 100 years and the cultural heritage from this period can be experienced at the museum. At the fur museum, the process of skin preparation and how the skins become furs is illustrated. Machines, tools and other equipment come from now closed fur companies.
School museum
A schoolroom furnished with furniture and materials collected from the area. Here you can test how it feels to sit in an old school desk and read school books from different grades.
The Almquist room
Here are paintings by Herman Norrman (1864-1906) represented at the National Museum, Waldermarsudde, the Thielska gallery and Gothenburg’s art museum. Sculptures by Ansgar Almquist (1889-1973) and Runa Bülow-Hübe (1890-1983) are also available for viewing.

Ove Fundin
Ove Fundin (*1933), five-time world champion in speedway, is born in Tranås. His achievements are shown through his medals, trophies and photographs.
Collections and writings
There are also various collections, folders and drawings by e.g. Elis Kågén’s donation of collected art, a documented exhibition of “Storgatan som jag minns den”, drawings of various buildings and literature on Tranås local history.
