Astrid Lindgren’s World
In Astrid Lindgren’s World, fairy tales come true and children’s favorite characters step straight out of the books. Here, visitors can meet Pippi, Emil, Ronja and many more, see exciting performances and explore the imaginative environments from Astrid Lindgren’s stories. With play, theater and adventure around every corner, it is a place where the whole family can experience the magic of Astrid Lindgren’s world.
Step into the fairy tales
In the middle of Småland, in the town of Vimmerby, Astrid Lindgren’s World is located just a stone’s throw from Astrid Lindgren’s childhood home. Almost half a million visitors come every year to meet Pippi Longstocking, Emil in Lönneberga, Ronja the Robber’s Daughter and all the others.
Here, visitors can step straight into the world of fairy tales and experience scenes and environments directly taken from Astrid Lindgren’s stories. The park features carefully constructed environments such as Villa Villekulla, Katthult and Mattisborgen, where both children and adults can watch performances and interact with their favorite characters.
Every day, there are theatrical performances around the park, where actors bring the well-known stories to life. In between performances, there is a chance to meet the characters, play in the imaginative environments, or explore the park’s many playgrounds.
The characters
Here you can meet the adventurous and strong Pippi Longstocking, who lives in Villa Villekulla together with her horse Lilla Gubben and the monkey Mr. Nilsson. Visitors can also meet the mischievous Emil in Lönneberga, who often gets up to funny antics on the farm in Lönneberga, or the brave and lovable children in Ronja the Robber’s Daughter. All characters come to life through fun and interactive performances in the park, giving visitors a chance to experience Astrid Lindgren’s magical world up close.
Play in focus
If there was one thing Astrid Lindgren loved, it was play and imagination. In Astrid Lindgren’s World, there is therefore plenty of space for free play, such as Bullerbyn and the play barn in Katthult, the Inte-stöta-marken-banan, Kvarnen, Mattisskogen and Lilla Bråkmakargatan. And can you think of more fun places to play than Pippi Longstocking’s Villa Villekulla or the deep corridors under Mattisborgen? When there is no performance going on, there is free play in the environments.
Raffles and skill games
In Astrid Lindgren’s World there are not only fairy-tale adventures and theater performances – here the whole family can also test their luck and sharpness in various classic fairground games. Challenge each other in the wheel of fortune, test your precision in ball throwing or horseshoe throwing and see who can get the most points in ring toss. There are also exciting lotteries where you can win great prizes. Perfect activities for those who want an extra dose of excitement and joy during their visit to the park!
“And we played and played and played. It’s a wonder we didn’t play ourselves to death”
– Astrid Lindgren
