Sydostleden brings you close to nature
The mild climate and terrain makes Southern Sweden ultimate for cycling and nature experiences. Sydostleden is 274 km long and takes you through a constantly changing landscape, from Växjö in Småland, followed by the archipelago in Blekinge, towards the coastal town of Simrishamn in Skåne. *(Website in Swedish with Google translate button)*
Sydostleden passes through protected biosphere parks, a national park, small fishing villages and cosy towns rich in cultural life and history. There are many hotels and Bu0026B’s along the trail, and plenty of opportunities to extinguish both thirst and hunger at a restaurant or cafe. Go for a swim in a lake framed by greenery, have a picnic in the shade of a tree on a sunny beach, or enjoy the wind against your face as you pedal onwards.
You can choose between cycling the whole trail, cycling it piecewise, or make a detour onto another local bike trail such as Åsnen Runt.
Sweden’s second national cycle trail
In 2016, Sydostleden became Sweden’s second national cycle trail. This means that the trail is of good standard, that it is safe, and that there is a good and wide range of experiences and service along the route. The signage is also of national standard and along the whole route you will find red-and-white signs marked with “2” – no matter from what direction or section you start cycling.

Section Växjö – Tingsryd
Length: 48.6 km Duration: 2,5 h The city of Växjö is the northernmost point of Sydostleden. The city is full of vibrant energy and you will find everything from shopping and entertainment to cosy streets, cobblestones and red painted cottages here. The trail’s highest point of 203 m above sea level is at the water tower in Växjö. Many of Sydostleden’s paths go on old embankments. They have been closed for a long time, but several station houses and bridges remain as memories of the railroad era.

Length: 28.5 km Duration: 1,5 h Once you reach Urshult you have reached the southernmost point of Åsnen, Kronoberg County’s largest lake which also happens to be Sweden’s next national park. From Åsnen, Mörrumsån flows down towards Fridafors, Svängsta and Mörrum before it flows into Pukavik Bay west of Karlshamn.
