Welcome to Kalmar Castle, located in the center of Kalmar, just a stone’s throw from the station. Here, at Kalmar’s most historical attraction, most things look as they did in the 1500s. There is so much history to discover for both young and old. As a visitor, you can explore the castle’s permanent and temporary exhibitions as well as participate in guided tours and events. Why not enjoy something delicious in the castle restaurant or look for something to take home from the castle shop? The castle is open year-round, and during the Christmas season, there is a Christmas market worth visiting, with many local exhibitors offering both food and crafts. During school holidays, the castle transforms into the Children’s Castle with play and learning in the spirit of history. If you dream of a royal wedding, you can do it in the Castle Church, located inside the castle.

The picturesque nature and cultural reserve is a testament to how Småland looked 100 years ago. Meadows, wooden fences, houses, fields, and gardens are all maintained in a period-typical style. Seventeen buildings and marked hiking trails can be found in and around Åsen’s Village. In the summer, there are animals in the village and a wide range of activities suitable for both children and adults. Borgholm Castle offers activities for the whole family, adapted to the season. In the summer, children can participate in “Children’s Castle Adventure,” where they have the chance to perform various challenges and meet a princess or knight. In the spring and autumn, children can experience “Dragon Castle,” with exciting activities like “The Dragon Gold Hunt” and “Dragon Egg Search.”

Borgholm Castle, also known as the Castle Ruins, is one of Sweden’s most beautiful and beloved outdoor arenas. Every summer, concerts are held in the large courtyard, attracting a large audience.
