Stora Hotellet in Nybro is a newly renovated hotel with history and soul. The hotel now features individually designed rooms in Art Deco style, enriched with Småland design and craftsmanship, including lighting from Örsjö Belysning and wall art by Markus Åkesson. The original hotel, inaugurated in 1935, was considered a “showpiece” at the time, boasting luxurious details and materials: the village blacksmith forged the interior stair railing, the local flooring company installed oak parquet, and chandeliers by Orrefors’ Simon Gate still adorn Theandersalen. The impressive fresco by artist Gunnar Theander, which decorates the hall, depicts Nybro’s transformation from a craft village to an industrial town and was completed after 35 years of work and sketching.
