Drama succeeds comedy and music. In the foyer you are met with Småland glass and wood, and Öland limestone. The façade consists of 6000 square meter glass. The unique cultural centre is decorated with furniture that “breathes” Småland and Swedish furniture design. The cultural centre radiates beauty and fantasy, and is a powerful experience for culture lovers. Spira was designed by architect Gert Wingårdh, whose architecture is characterised by highly technological solutions, and the building is Sweden’s first environmental cultural centre. *(Website in Swedish, but you can find contact details there.)*

Quality Hotel Match in Jönköping is not just a hotel – it is also an exciting example of contemporary Swedish architecture. The building stands out with its elegant, brick-colored facade that flirts with the city’s industrial history, while reflecting the water surface of Lake Vättern with its clean lines and high glass sections. The hotel, located right on Lake Munksjön, connects old and new in its design. The modern silhouette, combined with material choices such as brick, steel and glass, gives the building a timeless character. Here, a classic sense of craftsmanship and Scandinavian minimalism meet in an architecture that both blends into and elevates the urban landscape.

Växjö Station
Växjö Station and Town Hall is a modern architectural landmark that combines the city’s railway station and municipal functions under one roof. The building, completed in 2021, is one of Sweden’s largest wooden buildings and covers approximately 16,400 square meters. It is constructed with a frame of cross-laminated timber and wooden beam columns, which creates a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The architecture is characterized by two sloping facades and large glass areas that let in plenty of daylight. The building houses modern workplaces for the municipality’s employees, a station hall with a waiting room, shops and restaurants, and a public meeting place for residents and visitors, called “Växjö’s living room”.
Linnaeus University Kalmar
Linnaeus University’s campus in Kalmar, also known as Universitetskajen, is a modern and urban-integrated university environment that was inaugurated in 2021. Located at the guest harbor in central Kalmar, the campus brings together all faculties, programs, the university library, restaurants and study places within a compact area. This location promotes meetings between students, teachers, business and the city’s residents.

Commissioned by Björn Ulveaus of ABBA fame and designed by the renowned Sandellsandberg Architects, the remarkable Slottsholmen Hotel building gave Västervik an entirely new silhouette. The handmade tiles in their shades of pink mean the building seems to shimmer as the sun moves through the sky. The high, floating ceilings were inspired by the old ship-building halls. While the materials chosen – bricks, wood, stone, and iron – were all inspired by the history of the site. Finally, silver-grey wooden panels line the main floor of the hotel adding to the atmosphere of elegance.
