Just a 30-minute boat ride from central Västervik takes you to the outer archipelago – a region where sea eagles and seals reside. The sea surface is broken by rocks and skerries, which serve as perfect resting places for gray seals. Here, you’ll encounter these three-meter-long, 200–300-kilo giants and gaze deep into their gentle, brown eyes. High above the horizon, the sea eagle, Sweden’s largest eagle with an impressive wingspan of 2.5 meters, soars majestically.

The tour departs from Västervik’s archipelago terminal and Horns Udde, and within just a few minutes, you’ll find yourself in the heart of Sweden’s most beautiful archipelago. Leafy islands with summer cottages quickly give way to rugged cliffs as the boat leaves the coastline. Here, the giants of the sea – gray seals and sea eagles – await. Idö’s experienced activity guides will take you to their favorite spots. From January to August, some islands are off-limits to protect wildlife, and during this period, the guides will take you to other areas, always with the utmost respect for the animals.
