Småland and also Eastern Sweden are known for the local dish “Kroppkakor.” These savory “balls,” made from potato dough and filled with fried pork and onions or other ingredients, resemble dumplings. The Småland version contains more potatoes in the dough than the one from Öland, which gives it a lighter color. All variations of Kroppkakor use different spices that give them their distinctive flavor.
